THE STORY
Wild Rose Devs started the way most dev shops do — building websites, taking client work, trading hours for dollars. It paid the bills. It didn't build anything lasting.
The realization came slowly, then all at once: why build for other people's visions when we can build for our own? Every client project ended with handing over the keys. Every product idea got shelved because there was always another contract to chase.
So we stopped chasing. The pivot was simple — own what you build, operate what you ship. No more handing over the keys. No more shelving ideas. If we saw a gap in the market, we filled it. If we believed in a product, we built it and ran it ourselves.
Today: seven ventures across food delivery, auto glass, fintech, gaming, and custom software — all owned and operated out of Calgary. No pitch decks, no investors, no permission.
Moustafa Khamis
Founder · Goes by Moose
Moose started building software because he wanted to build things that mattered — not because someone told him to. What began as freelance development in Calgary turned into something bigger when he realized the best way to build meaningful software was to own it.
He founded Wild Rose Devs as a venture studio — a company that builds, owns, and operates its own products. Seven ventures later, the thesis hasn't changed: find a real problem, build the solution, run it. No investors, no board meetings, no asking for permission.
Jackson Hooper
Co-Founder · Systems Architect
Jackson is a systems thinker. The kind of person who sees a problem and immediately starts mapping the architecture that solves it — not just today, but at scale. He believes great software is built on great systems, and he's never met a technical challenge he wasn't willing to take apart and rebuild from scratch.
He joined Wild Rose Devs because building other people's ideas was never enough. Jackson pushes himself and the team to think bigger, build smarter, and never settle for “good enough.” If there's a harder way that produces a better result, that's the way he'll go.
Wild Rose Devs isn't building a portfolio to sell. We're building an ecosystem — a network of companies that reinforce each other, share infrastructure, and grow together. Every new venture makes the studio stronger. Every lesson learned feeds the next build.
The model is simple: identify real gaps in real markets, build solutions that people actually need, and operate them with the same intensity we used to build them. We don't hand things off. We don't outsource the hard parts. We own the full stack — from idea to infrastructure to operations.
In the next five years, we're scaling every active venture to profitability, launching the ones still in development, and expanding beyond Alberta into markets across Canada. The goal isn't to be the biggest. It's to build things that last.
